OK this is interesting. My bedroom scanner (EvansvilleScanner.webhop.me:5002) has been (excuse the phrase) humming along fine. I monitor it on my feed computer and just a bit ago it said "Scan Mode..Nothing to Scan" Hmmmm

It is connected to a Uniden GPS even though it is a base scanner. First thought ...sd card.

Shut OFF all lists and then turned them all on even FULL Database. Silly scanner thought it was in North Carolina and loaded VIPER and started scanning. ODD

Checked the GPS Baud rate was 9600. OK Had GPS on the display, Customized to show LAT/LONG on display and viola NO GPS. Don't know how it moved so far East. I unplugged the GPS cable and replugged it in changed GPS off and on. Finally, the silly radio got GPS connection and discovered OH MY GOD I'm in Indiana. All is well or is it?

Note: Lost satellite reception on DirecTV at about that time due to storm. My other SDS 200 also on GPS albeit not UNIDEN's worked fine. Is this the fickle finger of FATE? Perhaps the "homebrew" GPS is a much better product!

I'd say losing satellite reception on DirecTV at the same time as the the funky GPS behavior is a big clue. Most likely you got a lightning surge in the area or something storm related.

Once the dust settled, did everything come back?

Typically scanners remember the last location the GPS device feeds it. If GPS signal is lost, the location is "frozen". With North Carolina coming up, a wrong location was "seen".

Yep GPS working again and the data on the SD card was alright. For loss of GPS it should have remained with Southern Indiana as location. Why it would load Virginia and North Carolina I have no clue.

I think the mothership was overhead blocking my satellite feed.
