I've been watching my display pretty closely for a few weeks now, and I've occasionally seen my scanner showing the display for a different channel than I am actually listening to. Maybe a few times a day.

I was hearing a call from my local PD, display showing a GMRS channel, for instance.

I'm using Priority Scan and Close Call, both set to DND, two favorites lists active, no custom search.

It seems like there may be a tiny time delay where the display is updating before or after the receiver changes channels. The squelch opens on one channel, the display shows another channel.

Have any of you seen anything like this with your scanners?

I assume that your local PD are a conventional channel and I also assume that if you use priority that you have that set to that PD channel?

So the problem could be that the priority scan finds that the PD channel are active and starts monitoring it but the display "forgets" that it needs to be updated and displays channel information that are from the one currently in the normal scan cycle?

Keep the replay function activated so you can go back and replay the recording, if that shows the correct information with that PD audio, that could be important to know, if you report it to Uniden as a bug. If it happens often enough then start a debug file and strip off everything 30 sec before that issue happens and 30 sec after it has stopped monitoring the PD channel and let Jason have that file.

I caught one yesterday. The replay also showed the wrong channel. Oddly, the channel display changed during the replay to a different channel - also wrong - but the audio did not change. I thought I might have 'fat fingered' something somehow, but I couldn't figure out how that could happen. I don't use replay often though...

I do most of my 'close to the scanner' listening weekdays - I WFH, and the scanner is right next to me. I'll have to get debugging set up and see if I can catch another one and get logs saved. One more thing to learn!:)

It may be hard to catch, but a video would be awesome so I could share with UJE. We could try to duplicate and possibly resolve the issue you are having. Feel free to message me privately if you capture one, and I'll send you a link to upload the video so I can share it with the engineers.

I'll give that a go - Thanks!

I'll be updating the firmware in a few minutes. I don't think that will affect it, but there could be fixes in there that didn't make it to the release notes.

FYI - Still keeping an eye on this. I haven't seen this since I updated the firmware.

I had changed the favorites lists I was monitoring this week - I dropped my Amateur / Public radio channel list. Too much chatter sometimes...
Maybe something to do with scanning between analog and digital channels?

I have added that list back in to see if I can catch this happening again.

Let me know your findings.

Update:

I have moved the local police / fire / ems channels to a separate favorites list, which I disable while home using my SDRs.

Those have the strongest signals - I'm probably not more than a mile from some of their transmitters.

The scanner is used for everything else in my area.

The scanner is pretty quiet now. Most of the action in my area is from those 'big four'.

I haven't seen the issue since. Not sure if it's because of strong signals, or less activity.

I'll have to watch closely Friday night to see what happens when things get busy.

I'll report here if I see the behavior again.
