I run around in my car using a GPS I'm really only interested in PD and Fire. With a priority on Fire. I use the national Database because my Favorites list ignores the GPS.

I don't want Suffolk county that.... comes in state wide. Not interested in NY or Mass

I've been hitting the Avoid button over and over.... But it still scans the system. I'd be willing to pay someone for help! Thanks all

You have to properly configure Favorites Lists for the GPS to "see" the data and turn specific Talk Groups and frequencies on and off. The built in Database already has that information built in, which is why it works.

If you are going to use the built in database, then you should look at "Service Types" and turn off the ones you don't want to hear. There are a lot of the, so look at the list carefully.

That's a lot to ask without putting in a lot of work. A friend of mine and I built a list of the coordinates of every town in our county. From what I saw on RR, most database coordinates show the center of a town then the radius to the farthest point. There is a lot of overlap into other towns. You can make rectangles but that is a lesson for another day.

Bottom line is I tried doing what you want to do. It is a lot of work that doesn't function exactly as I had hoped.

I rarely do permanent avoids - but if using GPS on the Full DB, do the avoids clear on the Full Database after a power down - or the GPS updates it's scan list? I feel like the answer is yes for the latter, and which case you're back to square one.
Seeing that I'm only in the tristate area for holidays, I've just come to learn to avoid NY and LI when I'm putting down the Merritt.
