Is it possible to listen to GR police and Fire? Are they using encryption? Multi path issues?

I used to have an analog scanner where I lived before moving to Grand Rapids. I'm thinking about buying a digital scanner to listen to Fire and EMS in GR/Kent. It seems like the Broadcastify/RR feeds in the area are pretty quiet. I'm wondering if that's because of the feed settings, me just missing peak times, or if maybe a lot of fire dispatch is either encrypted or done by computer. Is there a lot to be heard on GR fire dispatch and neighboring departments these days?

So I used to feed Kent County Simulcast (and ALL Unencrypted traffic) from my home in Muskegon with a Yagi antenna, but I have had some signal issues due to range. So currently, broadcastify will only supply Kent county audio if the traffic comes across a neighboring counties site, or if another Kent county node exists.

Besides Kent simulcast itself, Ottawa county is the next best peer for Kent audio.

Thanks. Scanner arrived and so far, I'm hearing the fire and ambulance dispatches. They aren't as long-winded or chatty as I remember from years ago. Guessing some of the info passes by computer now and that's why. Also haven't heard any inbound ambulance reports to the ER yet, and am wondering if they stopped doing that for understandable privacy reasons.
