Anyone know how the Grasslands Reservation EMS units are dispatched? The two ALS busses (87A1 and 87A2) are staffed by Empress EMS. But I can't find them on any frequency. I have only heard the county PD unit get dispatched to medical calls, not the bus.

The Grasslands Reservation is made up of 512 Acres in Westchester County.

Thanks in advance!

If no entity named "Empress" is in the FCC database, then you need to find out either who owns Empress and holds the license, or what commercial shop's frequencies they are authorized to use.

[EDIT]It is also possible that the license for EMS on this reservation belongs to BIA or some other U.S. federal agency, which means that it will not be found in the FCC database.[/EDIT]

What do you call this?

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WNCH867 - EMPRESS AMBULANCE SERVICE INC

The Grasslands Reservation is not a Native American "reservation", it's 512 acres of property owned by Westchester.

Westchester County purchased the Grasslands Reservation in 1915 to provide an isolated setting for a poor house, a penitentiary and a public hospital. It is now the site of the Westchester Medical Center, the county’s jail and penitentiary, New York Medical College, as well as various county departments including Labs & Research and Emergency Services.

Well, it wasn't my question, so I didn't do the digging. I merely suggested a line of inquiry for the OP.

I might be mistaken but when I am down that way I hear them dispatched over one of the medevac frequencies but I don't remember which one. I will have to check when I go to Yonkers to see my daughter this weekend and if I hear it I will post it for you. When I first heard them on the same freq. as a medevac channel I thought it strange but as soon as I know the frequency I will let you know.

North of there, just below that place
Grasslands EMS Coverage.

Yup, try MED-1. They used be paged out along with STAT Flight on that channel; now, since Air Methods pulled the STAT helicopter up north, all you'll hear is the units based out of there.
