OK, I am hearing the Grayson Co. Jail on 155.5875 CT: 167.9 Your basic jail stuff, "Need orange jumpsuits, send so-and-so to book-in, Med Cart on the floor ... " SO is fine on 154.7850 NAC: 179. Now I can't hear anything on 154.1150 (Constables) how is this frequency used? I know Grayson Co. has 9 voter sites (or repeater inputs) to 154.7850, might this be one of them?

Also, Apparently GCSO has an option to go to secure in Digital, when done it sounds like water running. Generally its just the Mobile who goes to secure. Has anyone else heard this? and If I program the frequency " 154.7850 " with NAC: 179 but change from "Group" to "Private" in Win500 will this open up the "secure" side they are going to?

Max,

I have been monitoring 154.115 for several years and I've never heard anything on it. The only frequency I've ever heard the contables on has been the primary.

The encrypted "secure" is digital and there is no way to unencrypt it, unless you had one of their radios.

Grayson SO used to have a secondary repeater in Gordonville they used mainly for Lake Texoma operations on 154.815 (173.8) 159.045 RIN, however since they went digital I've never heard any traffic on it, even when lake events, 4th of July, etc., have gone on. You might want to plug this in just in case. I can't believe they wouldn't still be using it, even on analog, because I don't think they can access the 154.785 repeater from there.

Good answers Mike, Thank you. the "secure" mode sure is annoying.

Per Shipman Communications in Denison, Who handle GCSO. there are 9 voter sites (Inputs to 154.7850) in all the county Except Whitewright and far NW Grayson Co. so, I am wondering if 154.8150, 159.0450, 154.1150 and some of the other frequencies used by Agencies in Grayson Co. or by Grayson co. are now used as inputs.?

Lastly, on the WIN500 software, In trunking, what is the "Private" option for on the "Group" ? it allows for either "Private or Group" whats this for?

Again, thanks Mike for the help. Nice to be a Real part of the Digital Community.

Max,
"Group" is your wildcard for unknown talkgroups on the system (or ones you don't have entered). The rough equivalent of scanning in "open" bank mode on the older Radio Shack Pro series scanners (like the Pro-97). Or ID Search on Uniden scanners.
"Private" is your wildcard to use for I-calls on that specific talksys.

If you wanted to hear both unidentified TGID's (one's not entered specifically in your talkgroup list), and I-calls, enter a 'group' wildcard object and a 'private' object.

Max, The "Private" is to allow to capture stuff such as I-Calls on EDACS Systems. The "Group" is for say dispatch channels where when someone on that channel is talking then everyone can hear that conversation.

(nevermind Heig beat me to it)

Ohhhhhhhhh so that's How I-Call works on this ...... o.k., Sweet! Thanks!

Also, I have a check in "Show radio ID's for group calls". what exactly is this? I see on Collin Co. TRS, Dispatch & PD-1 Radio ID's for each user when they key up. are these important? do they need to be logged? is this the user ID sent by the radio to affiliate it to the Network? (to make the handshake)

Max,
I'm not tracking the radio ID's, but that is the way I understand it- the the ID of the radio itself. In a small department, where there's not a lot of handheld swapping, it could be interesting to keep track of a specific person that you knew, see if they were on duty. Where I am, in Dallas, they swap radios around so much, it would not serve much purpose. At least not to me. But, to each his/her own.

Interesting, Thanks hiegtx. Nice tool to have un-less your listening to the Dallas TRS where they literally steal each others radio's for the better battery ....

Confirmed yesterday that 154.115 is the repeater input for the Whitesboro EMS repeater on 155.220. 173.8 tone. The DB entry is not correct but I've submitted a correction.
