The connection is actually tighter than the RS 800 I put on it to begin with. I had to dig the stock antenna out of the box to test it.

Yeah, it's not the radio end BNC connection (As far as I can tell) but the supplied Rubber DUck antenna. I'm using the radio with one of my other antennas and it's fine.

Maybe you need another choice in the Poll, the stock antenna is loose.

Yeah, that's the issue, and what I'm polling for. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. This is my first poll!

Must be an issue of manufacturing tolerances of either the BNC connector on the scanner, the antenna, or both. I have often found some antennas to fit tight on some scanners, and loose on others.

Loose but works fine. RS 800 snug.

Yeah. I'm really glad it seems to be just the supplied antenna and not an issue with the radio side BNC connection. That would have been annoying. GRE must have gotten a bad batch of antennas where the specs weren't read correctly.

The loose antenna problem goes back to the pro 96,the stock unit is loose and the RS800 fits tight. I think GRE has a large batch of loosies. The RS800 has metal around the center insulator and the stock plastic duckie doesn't.

This problem seem's to affect most to all of the scanners made by GRE. I myself don't own a GRE-500 but I owned a RS Pro-93 and Pro-95 at one time and had to put a small rubber washer below the antenna to keep it steady. :)

I did that on my PRO-93, but none of my others (PRO-92/95/96/97/99 and PSR-500) seem to need it.

Only 37 people with the PSR-500 to date? I find that hard to believe. Maybe others did not see this thread?
