Need info from experienced PSR600- PSR800 user. I am shopping for the GPS feature. Do I need to buy GPS service. Or is it talking about the GPS incorporated in signal.

I'm not sure what you mean about buying a GPS service, or the signal. What exactly do you want?

PSR-600 does not use GPS

GPS in it's pure form is a government service and therefore free to everyone. All you have to do is buy the equipment.

Now as far as what you would need for the PSR-800, I defer to someone who has knowledge of the scanner.

I own an 800. A search of the 90 page PDF User Manual for "GPS" and/or "gps" returns no matches. Whew, for a second there, I thought I must have missed something, lol.

I'm just taking a shot here, but you may be looking for a scanner that can hook up to a GPS unit so that it can tune in frequencies based on your location. If that is the case, you need to look at the Uniden Home Patrol - it can hook up to a GPS (not included) via a cable and program your listening based on your location. Of course that unit doesn't have to be hooked to GPS, you can put in your zip code or city and listening range to have the radio detect what you want to listen to.
I own both a Pro-106 (similar to PSR 500 and 600) as well as PSR-800 (just bought it and LOVE it!!), and neither radio can be hooked to GPS unit as far as I know.

You should look at the current Uniden models. You will need to also purchase a separate compatible GPS unit (I believe it requires a serial connection).
