GRE PSR-310 -vs- RS Pro-164 ?

I'm in the market for a new scanner. Budget only allows up to $200 since I also need a programming cable and programming software.

GRE PSR-310 -vs- RS Pro-164 ?

I know the Pro-164 will be $99.99 this coming Friday and the 310 is at $199.

How do these two radios compare ?

PSR310 is the same as the PSR500 w/o digital.

Like the difference between the old digital scanners and the present ones. Lightyears ahead. It has the same basic memory setup as the 106/500. The latest version of Win500 incorporates the 310/410 into the software. It just is analog, not digital. 1800+ memories, 20 Scan Lists. No V-scanner files though.

What I truly would have liked to see: More frequency coverage in the old VHF TV range--50-88MHz with WFM. WFM in the milair range.

Is the GRE-310 ($199) really worth the extra $100 over the Pro-164 (Black Friday price of $99). ??

Look at the featureset of the 164 and see if you have enough to make it worthwhile. We can't answer that for you, it depends on what you want from your scanner.

I own a 163 and the 164 they are great scanners, I also own the PSR-500 and 600 and a ton more the only thing I can say is when its not on rat shacks site they will not support what you have bought.

Thats good to hear that you like the 310 I just ordered mine. Im just waiting for it in the mail. The only thing im starting to freak out about is the PROVOICE and analog listed for Aurora, Colorado should I be freaking out that im not going to hear much on the police scanners because of the provice?

Psr-310 all the way!

I haven't purchased one yet, but my best friend did. I got a chance to try it out, put it through it's paces and have a little time alone with it. There is NO WAY I would even consider a Pro-164 after spending time with the 310. The 164 is very OLD technology when compared to the 310. You just have to spend some time with one and you will see. Hard to make someone understand that through a forum.
