I just received 1 of these from my dad - no manual
Questions
1 can somebody send a copy of the screen with explanations of the it - example "au" appears was wondering what this is
2 can it be programmed to a project 25 phase 2 ( Maricopa county Arizona)
I am using a program called Scancat lite

AU is for automatic detection of modulation mode. You can also set it to FM, AM, or WFM if you already know what mode is being used.

You can download a copy of the owners manual here:

check this manual also:

The PSR 600 can not monitor any phase 2 transmissions. It’s still a great scanner, but the technology it uses is now 16 years old.

"au" mode just means the scanner is set to automatically select the right frequency modulation (AM/FM) based I believe upon the preprogrammed bandplan. I believe "au" is typically seen in tune mode or search mode.

This scanner only works with P25 Phase 1 broadcasts. Some systems are noted as being P25 Phase 2 in RadioReference however are still actually broadcasting in Phase 1. So, you may have to try the system to verify whether the system is broadcasting in Phase 1 or not. I believe you are referring to this system: Maricopa County Trunking System, Maricopa County, Arizona.

The T (TDMA) in the Mode column for all of the talkgroups indicates this system is entirely P25 Phase 2 which your scanner cannot decode. On this P25 Phase 2 system Regional Wireless Cooperative (RWC) Trunking System, Phoenix, Arizona, you can receive any talkgroup whose Mode is D (P25 Phase 1). Mode DE and TE talkgroups are fully encrypted and cannot be decoded by any scanner. De and Te talkgroups are encrypted part of the time.
