gre psr300 programming

i am getting ready to purchase the gre psr300.and i have been reading some of the post about win97.what is it,and why do i need it?
i read where ppl are programming there scanners,but i have never did that to my old uniden bearcat. i guess i am stepping into the new age.

All you need to know is on this link below,it just makes programming your scanner very easy to do from your computer to scanner and so much more! I bought Win500 for my PSR-500 and could not live without it! Good Luck!
