Is the GRE super amp worth the money? Does it improve the range?
trooperdude said:It is NOT a low-noise amplifier.
N_Jay said:How "not low noise" are they?
zz0468 said:Would it surprise you in the least if I told you that there doesn't seem to be publicized noise figure or third order intercept specifications for this thing?
I didn't think so. =)
N_Jay said:It does not "surprise me", but unpublished does not mean "bad".
trooperdude said:No, but a quick look at the parts list and schematic does.

N_Jay said:What transistor do they use?
JLF1233 said:I had one on a Pro-2096 and it did not do well at all. In fact it kills most signals on VHF and UHF unless they were close and very strong. The ones I needed it for, it would not get. I am out in the country about 30 miles south of Dallas so I don't think I have an overload problem. If anybody can tell me how I might improve it, I would be glad to try.
