• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'd be thrilled to have ANY locals (good or bad) on the CB these days. 35 years ago we had easily 200+ locals on the air every day. Now it's just me and 2 other guys. The rest of my "locals" are 25-60 miles away and requires using SSB to talk to them.

Do what prcguy suggested. Get even. Have fun with it. Pretend you don't hear them and that you're talking to somebody else every time they key up. Just talk to your "imaginary" contact, ignoring the other guys, and maybe toss in a "i got some local yahoos trying to talk, but you're walking all over them". That will surely get them all wound up.
:)
It worked! they started their normal BS but then got curious to who I was talking to. Told them I was talking to a guy in London.

If you want to Really keep em' guessing, set up a Split frequency pair with someone to talk to either local or distant. then switch to SSB. they'll be breaking their knobs trying to find the other half of your contact !

I've done that back in the 90s. People really have a hard time figuring that one out, especially when the friend that can hear them give you talking points for a QSO with the "distant station seeker".

Given an accomplice, “Scale House Open”, a fine one to throw traffic into a tizzy pre-2017 with extraordinary ears.

All I can say is I tried. I live in redneck country and you will never be accepted here. Minute I key up and say anything I am told I am not welcome here. To many good ole boys that think all the channels are theirs. Will keep the equipment for emergencies, but unless you are on welfare but have money for a thousand watt amp you will never be able to talk on the radio.
Remember when I was younger, had a guy like this that lived a few miles southeast from me. Every time I tried talking to friends, he'd key up with a bunch of noise toys and say I wasn't allowed on the radio. After a month of the nonsense, I found an old small mobile radio and an small battery. I was able to find the schematics for the radio and turned the wattage down to 1 watt. I got an old plastic tote and put the radio and battery in it and made a wire antenna. I knew the general area that he was in but not an actual address so I found a part of a nearby park that was tucked behind a patch of trees. I had the radio do a constant dead key. It lasted about a week. After that, he never bothered me.

Was more fun to have a partner in crime.
We both had Tram D201's with the VFO Mod drop the power to 1 watt start talking to each other while moving the Tx up and down 5kc's while talking to each other and you and your partner act like you can hear each other just fine. The others will knocking the door off the CB Shop to get their radios repaired. The other trick is to whisper then all of a sudden mid-sentence up the mic gain and talk loud.
