But the GRE CPU cannot be controlled from the outside, from a PC. The firmware code for the GRE CPU most probably have code that says If FQ below 520 then use 280-520 filter. If FQ above 760 then use 760-1300 filter. It can't handle frequencies between 520-760 to control the bandpass filters. I expect the Optoelectronics OS435 to have similar code that doesn't cope with out of band frequencies that the hardware cannot support.... but i don't ecpect that with the GRE cpu.
