GREELEY, Colo. — Greeley police fatally shot a man who allegedly pointed an AR-15 at an officer early Wednesday, the Greeley Police Department reported.
Shortly before 3 a.m., a witness called police to say that a relative was outside the home in the 1300 block of Fourth Street brandishing several firearms, GPD said. The caller stated that the man was an ex-military member suffering from PTSD. The caller also said he was drunk.
The suspect reportedly got on the phone and told a dispatcher that “they are going to have a shoot-out.”
Responding officers spotted the man pacing in front of the residence and issued orders for him to raise his hands, GPD said. The man allegedly pointed a long gun — possibly an AR15 — at an officer, prompting police to shoot him.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital. No police officers were injured during the incident.
