When I put up a Rohn H40 Telescoping mast, I thought I would be receiving only. The best place for the antenna/mast is on the west side of the house, but the electric service entrance is on the east side. I ran coax and ground from the antenna around the house to the service entrance and inside to the desk in the basement. I have a solid copper run from the antenna/mast to the electric service ground.

Since then I got my ham ticket, currently studying for general. I put a dual band vertical on top the mast and moved the discone to a lower crossarm.
I am looking to move my shack from the basement to a room on the west side of the house. This could save me roughly 60 feet of coax. Am I right to leave the ground wire on the long way to the electric service ground?
The alternative would be coming through the basement and out the other side to the electric service ground rod.
I do have an additional ground rod at the base of the mast.

I would keep the service ground as short as possible and also use the ground at the mast.
Of course a shorter run of coax will be an improvement.
