it seems to have tons of interference
Is it the same interference you had in the other thread?
interference or ?????

This is a screenshot of a video from your wav file:

What antenna are you using and where is it located?

If the antenna coax is grounded, then the dongle is also probably grounded.

Is that an unusual amount of noise for MW/LW?

I will post a screen of the noise and/or a baseband file soon with my modifications to the shack. May also do one from the phone away from everything like outside or something.

? switching device- motor controller, light dimmer and so on. It looks to me as a nasty switching device that is generating a harmonic.

If you pull the antenna wire from the reciever is the noise still there? What's your gain set at in the pop-up control panel. What's your antenna setup.

I made a passive single pole low pass filter at 16mhz. Its not rfi shielded so it may be letting rfi, but its there. Also this is being done on my phone.

Thank you for the image.

That looks pretty bad.

What antenna are you using?

Where is the antenna located?

The source of RFI can be difficult to locate. Sometimes it is necessary to turn off all the power in your house to determine if the source is in your house or not.

Also I'm a she. LOL.
Sorry, Colby; I wasn't sure.

who's colby?
Sorry, my mistake. I'm obviously confused.

What antenna are you using and where is it located?

Using your phone with the dongle is a good idea if it means everything is battery powered.

Also, a laptop can operate on battery with the dongle to hunt for the source of interference. If you don't have one, maybe you can borrow one.

Is the coax for your antenna grounded to the house electrical system?

Interference can be conducted over the power lines or through the air, or both.

If you aren't able to listen to the broadcast band or listen to short wave, the interference must be pretty bad.

What dongle are you using, the RTL-SDR.COM V3 with a down converter for the AM Broadcast band and shortwave?

Can you receive the FM Band with the dongle and SDRSharp?

With as much noise as is showing in that one image, how close are you to other residences? You could be getting noise from their wall warts, plasma displays, etc.

Did some antenna maintenace and afterwards had a ton of noise; noise floor looked like a roller coaster especiallly at meters. Checked everything, connectors, grounds for days without success.
Then it rained. The noise reduced significantly.

Okay so update here, I CAN hear fm stations just fine when i remove the fm notch filter. I CAN hear some shortwave like RHC, Brother Stair, and a few others occasionally. Nothing interesting though, just the religious nuts mostly. The gain is up pretty high, that could be turned down. I live in a city with lots of old homes, wiring could be an issue. Wall warts are likely an issue from both my house and the neighbors. I've put chokes on a lot of my stuff and have more to add, I've been putting them on both ends of my cables. It's helped significantly but there is still a lot of noise. I also live very close to a LOT of broadcast towers. My location is honestly utter crap. That's why I just bought my first scanner, a radioshack Pro 433. I figure if I can't enjoy the lower bands then I can at least enjoy the upper ones.
