Well, if this comes to fruition, I'll probably have a few scanners being sold.
The hobby is slowly going the way of shortwave DXing when the bands were alive or twisting the rooftop antenna rotor to pull in a ballgame from three states away or even the smoky, noisy arcades full of kids and quarters on Friday and Saturday nights. Disappointing, to say the absolute least.

Somewhere listening to KenCom
from this
"By encrypting communications, we reduce that risk while still ensuring that law enforcement and fire districts within Grundy County can communicate securely during emergencies."
Am I reading too much or do I get the hint they want to encrypt FD?
The sheriff did an interview he said fire is not affected even if they where they are still multi-casted to analog for mutual aid

They switched Monday morning around 0735.
So far 36029 LE-1 & 36030 LE-2 are the only 2 that are encrypted.
'Other than the ones already in use'.

They seem to set up the "ENC" on a unused talk group till they get radio's installed with the encryption key then move back over to the original TGroup, ...
