The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have read that Quantar cannot run mixed-mode and do Multi-PL without an external community repeater control panel. Sounded like they will only do Multi-PL themselves if it’s programmed to do analog only. Are the GTR8000 repeaters the same way? Been thinking about getting a VHF GTR8000 and it would be very nice to just setup mixed-mode and Multi-PL in the CPS and not have to hookup an external controller.

not sure about multi pl, but I can tell you ive set up a few of our gtr8000 with mixed mode and respective NAC and PL/DPL with no issues. How many PL/DPL are you needing to use on the analog side

I have never tried it myself, but CSS is not throwing errors when you configure a mixed mode channel and set for Multi PL and Multi NAC.

I’m wanting to do either 3 or 4 PL tones on the same frequency and have it set to mixed mode. I’ll only need one NAC though. Currently I have 3 farmers with analog only radios, potentially might have a fourth one soon. All on the same PL tone though because I’m using a Quanter without a community repeater panel. I know they’d all like to have their own PL tone. I as well as most of my friends that have radios have APX and XTL VHF radios and we will switch to P25 when in the fringe areas of the repeater. So it will be used like a community repeater. I know there are other ways I could do this cheaper but oh well. I didn’t need an APX8500, 8000XE, and 1500 either but I went Gucci there too so might as well add a GTR to the mix of my over priced “toys” 😂

That’s good, it’s looking more hopeful that I may be able to get away with going the GTR route then. I would sure hope Motorola would’ve added that option to the GTR’s with how many thousands they cost but it is mother /\/\ after all.

Multi PL/NAC is an extra cost option on the GTR:

CA01950AA ADD: CONV MULTI-NAC MULTI-PL enables multiple PL tones (analog) or multiple NACs (digital P25 Network Access Codes) to be detected on a single channel. Each of the 16 channel personalities can be configured with a list of PL tones and NACs to use for receiver qualifiers.

As mentioned, it's a cost added feature on the GTR8Ks. Order now, as the GTR8Ks are on the roadmap to be replaced by the D series eventually.

That's definitely good to know. I'll make sure that option is on the quote before I tell them to get it ordered. Thank You!

Question...How do "options" work on a standalone GTR8000? I've never loaded any entitlements, licenses or anything into a GTR to get it to do what I wanted to. Now if they are trunking some of the options are actually licenses in the core, but I've never done anything like that in a GTR itself.

Same deal as Cisco devices from days past. Honor system. Don't enable this option unless you paid for it.

ConvBr seem to support all options out of the box.

Connect it to anything that UNC / UEM touch and it'll throw violations all day long.

That was my experience. I’ve had engineers ask me about simulcast licenses for example and I told them that’s in the core, not in the GTR. It takes the proper SWDL file, but other than that nothing else to add.

I am also wondering this. I didn't know these repeaters had options like radio's have Flashcodes. Is there anywhere I can see a list of options available for the GTR? I know I can find flashcode decoders for radios to see options available for those but none of them I can find have an option to do it for repeaters as well. I wouldn't have known CA01950AA ADD: CONV MULTI-NAC MULTI-PL was an option if kf8yk wouldn't have said anything.

That’s because all GTR’s do everything right out of the box. Assuming as I said the proper SWDL file is loaded. D-series may be (and probably is) different.

Ok, that's what I thought originally till options came up in the discussion. Made me think they only did whatever was in the quote for options and anything else would require me to purchase an update like I just recently did to an APX1500 that needed multi-key added to the flashcode.

Not sure if it fits your needs but in the NAC end of things, you can configure the unit to pass traffic with NAC intact as received.
