Hello,

Can someone confirm exactly where the county and municipal agencies for this county are operating? I would tend to think normally that they'd use the latest technology, which may be the DMR T3 system that is completely ENC, but I also see reference to some P25 usage that makes me wonder...or are they using both simultaneously? South Boston Police for example show on the DMR system (ENC) but show as using P25 conventional unencrypted as well. Kinda weird but maybe I'm overlooking something. I do see a few recent somewhat vague references to Halifax County in the Virginia forum but no clear explanation as to actual use (or I missed it).

Thanks in advance.

All emergency communications for the county, town of South Boston and Town of Halifax are on the DMR T3 system. You can still hear fire/rescue dispatched on 155.8425 conventional but all ops and event are on the DMR T3 system. I haven't heard any communications on either the conventional or P25 channels since they made the switch to DMR.
