Does anybody know why The Hamilton County Dispatch is now using the Cincinnati Police frequencies as a control frequency isnstead of their own.

Because it is now one joint system. They will share all frequencies and all 25 towers. The City is currently in the process of making the switch to the system. Radio training is in full swing, with the full time switch expected in April.

Yes, you need to add the new control channels:

866.1125
866.1875
866.2125
866.4625

Please correct me if i'm wrong but Cincinnati will simulcast on the entire Hamilton County system as does all the the units currently on the system. What i'm trying to ask is if i'm in Forest Park, will i be able to hear a Cincinnati District 1 unit like i can currently hear a Blue ash or Colerain township unit?.

If so, i'll go ahead and add the Cincinnati control channels into my Hamilton county bank.

Yes, this is a simulcast system, which means that every tower site will broadcast all of the same radio traffic over each frequency at the same time regardless of the user's location. However, if this was a "SmartZone" system like MARCS is, you would have to program in several towers to follow each talkgroup, especially if none of the users that you like to listen to only affiliate with certain towers in the area.

Nonetheless, I would go ahead and add the Cincinnati control channels, since this will be one unified wide-area system when completed.

OK, I have had all hamco and cinti frequencies in my scanner for a year now. Last night, ther was no traffic. Hamco has 20 and cinti has 15. not one of them last night, was being used as a control frequency. Anybody know where they went?

hamco / cincy frequencies

I've been keeping the cincy control channels and the hamco control channels in separate banks on my pro96. Would this be the "best practice" for a system like this, or should I be combining the ctrl channels into a bank.

That they are listed in the RR database as sites 102 and 101 respectively led me to configure them in separate banks.

Until the system goes to use one of the Cincinnati frequencies as a control channel, then you'll hear nothing.

Mobilcomm of Cinti is doing software upgrades to portables and mobiles already fucntioning on the Ham. Co. System. It is designed so that all radios can use all the towers, either in the city or in the county, giving optimal coverage, no matter where the units are, for both city & county units. Finally, city and county units will be able to talk to one another.

They are the installer for H.C.C.C. They installed the system out there, and programed/installed all the portables and mobiles everyone in the county departments have.
