My shack is simple, all conventional analog radios to monitor the 25/28/32 Precinct in Harlem and also to monitor the FDNY, NYPD and EMS throughout the 5 Boros.

1 UHF Motorola MCS2000 remote mount with a simple low profile mag mount antenna that is mounted outside of the window.

1 Kenwood TK-390 UHF with the same layout programmed as the MCS.

1 Toughbook CF-29, 1.60gHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD running Windows 7 professional.
I am intending to use to Decode DMR systems this fall.

1 Lafayette HE-15B CB radio with antenna attached. (Actually works)

1 HP P6610F Desktop, 2.90ghZ, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD, Windows 7 Home premium.
mostly used to surf the web. (38" HD flatscreen used as monitor)

it's simple, but it covers most, if not all the 5 boros for non trunked communication.

I will be upgrading to all Motorola DMR radios soon to replace the MCS and Kenwood that have served me very well over the last few years. I am also hoping soon to add a desktop P25 scanner to monitor all the trunked systems in the city.

In the next coming weeks, i am going to be looking for a cable to host a feed on broadcastify of the 25/28/32 NYPD Precincts via the MCS2000.

Hope you enjoy my little city shack.

I'm on the 3rd of 14 floors. But I get almost everything pretty good. There's some areas of Brooklyn that are very hard to reach though.

3rd is better than ground floor, and it's better than my RF hole.

I'm in a suburban neighborhood, but I'm at the lowest point in the surrounding area. The only good thing I have going for me is that one of the main local trunked system simulcast sites is literally 1/4 mile from my house. I get full bars on my P25 scanners without antennas on them!

Very nice! I love seeing the HE-15 B in your pic & happy to hear it works. I had an HE-15 that I bought used in the early 70's when I was a kid. Fond memories!

it sounds pretty good as well. i Salvaged it from a job and cleaned it off pretty good and it powered right up!
Im hoping to upgrade to all TRBO radios soon, so the HE may be going up for sale or trade soon.
