• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The resemblance is pretty uncanny. Here I started to think that BK cut some kind of a deal to rebrand their Xg100p as their own. Like Tait used to do awhile back.

The XG-100P is a reconfigured PRC-152 and was EOL'd in 2016. It's got nothing to due with the BKR9000.

If you hold a BKR9000 in your hand and then compare it to an XG100P you'll quickly realize they are light years (and POUNDS) apart.

I've only seen pics and some video about it...To me it looked like it had a lot of the same cosmetic features, that's all.

To me, BKR a heavy APX pre production housing with square corners and edges with the BKR. Almost like a have blue prototype prior to a stealth lol.

The BKR 9000 even has an A/B/C/D switch like the XL200... Of course they could have chosen to go that way..

I am pretty excited about receiving our dealer demo radios in Jan. The radio may not be every one, but it will be better than Harris or Motorola and lower price. I cannot list what we would sell it for but people are welcome to contact us. I do know we will be offering a package deal to compliment any buyer.

For the sake of others when those getting them demo them or buy please make sure turn off code is enabled for analog or demand they have that feature available in the software.

I would be surprised if there is anything in common with the PRC-152 and XG-100P. I think they are from two different design groups and made on two different assembly lines.

kb4cvn stated the following in another thread.

Basically the Unity XG-100p is a Harris AN/PRC-152 Falcon-III radio with the following changes:

  • Battery moved from bottom to back (allowing the use of the P7100 style batteries)
  • Display changed from a IR version for NVG use, to a visible light model.
  • NSA Approved Type-1 Cryptographic module replaced with a NSA Approved Type-3 module, supporting DES and AES encryption formats.
  • Main circuit board altered, removing the 30-88 MHz band, and adding in the 700/800 MHz band.

Harris (Rochester) essentially took an off-the-shelf Green Radio, tweaked it a bit, and repackaged it for public safety use. Radios after that were designed by Lynchburg, who have better technical expertise in public safety radios

Will the programming cable and software be the same as what the KNG2 uses?
