Setting up some Harris XL-200M's for work. Our officers like their MagneticMics.
This applies to the standard non-DTMF mic (Part number: XZ-MC6A/14050-6010-01), but I suspect it'll work fine with the DTMF mics.
Disconnect the mic from the radio.
Remove the 4 Phillips screws from the rear shell of the microphone:
C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y, and I mean carefully, separate the two sections. There is a small flex cable that connects the two halves of the mic for the noise cancellation mic on the back.
On the inside of the back shell of the mic are two springs that are held in with a foam ring. Remove -only- the spring indicated in the photo. Leave the foam ring in place. Promptly lose the spring, because it's a tiny little bugger. Or, tape it to the inside of the mic in case you ever want to undo the modification.
Yup, that one:
Now, carefully reassemble. Install the MagneticMic button on the back. Make sure the MagneticMic base is properly grounded, and the programming for the radio is set up correctly.
