Good morning everyone,

I'm headed down to a Nascar race in October and I've been trying to locate a couple of items for a reasonable price i.e. Headset, Stubby Antenna, Carrying case for my BC-296D......does anyone know a place where I could find these, if so it would be greatly appreciated!! Anyway hope you have a nice weekend and happy scanning!!

Thanks,

Hello hemsmedic,

Had a look at the link, the headset looks like it may be ok or may not, I myself as I have worked the road racing circuit in ontario use a "racing radios" canner/listening headset, unfortunately the cost of such is over $100.00 cdn. I have never found myself straining to hear with this headset, even beside a re-starting car in pit lane, or standing in front of a grid of 50 cars getting started.

Try as you like, but I highly suggest a high quality head set if you do this alot.

enjoy the race.

The scanner sales/rental trailers at the track will have all the stuff you are looking for too. Expect to pay $5-10 for a stubby antenna, and $25 to $100 for headphones. I purchased a new pair of headphones in Michigan back in june for $70US and they work great. I also have a set of Racing Electronics headphones that I bought at the track... they work great as well. They both canel out the track noise very nicely.
