Just got my PRS 500 from Scannermaster...2 day turn around nicely packed too!

....I am programming it with the Win500 program. All went well last night uploading from RR trunking and conventional frequencies for Suffolk and Nassau Co's. in NY. Scanner worked perfectly as does my Pro-97 and 2055.

This morning I was tweaking the entries using Win500...now I get a "Heap Error 24D21 : 24E6" when I press any number key to open or close a Scan List....The only way to get out of this is to turn the scanner off then back on ....The scanlist number then shows what I wanted to do.

Any idea what is going on??

A talkgroup is not paired with a TSYS somehow. I've had this happen once (at the start of a trip, go figure) and I didn't figure out how to fix it until I got back. The only thing I could get to work was to do a full blown reset. Turn the scanner on, press 0, then press 1, then press enter. That will initialize the scanner completely. Good luck to you.

Edit to add: There's several threads if you search the phrase "heap error" if you want more details. This is the thread that I commented in a few months ago.

Thank you

THANK YOU Chris and Mike.....You are right I had added some additional TGs this morning to what I did last night...they didn't get associated with the original TGs.

What a quick and accurate answer. I couldn't be more pleased with my new PSR500, RR, Scannermaster and Don Starrs' Win500 program, and your helpful and speedy answer!

I have been scanning since 1972. Things have changed tremendously.

Just in case anyone runs across this error a second time, the following may be helpful:

I found that on my PSR 500 I can push program immediately after start up (bypassing the heap error) and then assign a TSYS to the TGRP that does not have one assigned; this may work due to my having conventional channels programmed in which are scanned first. If that does not work, I found holding down either the "1" or "2" during start up then pressing "exit" and then "pgm" will allow a person to bypass the heap error and assign a TSYS to the TGRP without requiring a reset.
