So I'm sitting here, enjoying my day off, and it suddenly came to me, that Lake Cumberland, the houseboat capital of the world is pretty much 3 or 4 miles from my house..

So I've been scanning marine channels for a little while with my Pro-2055 trying to cash in on a rare monitoring opporotunity..

Anyone else doing some marine scanning around a heavily houseboat/pleasure boating infested area? Heard anything interesting today?

Just listened to a rental houseboat experiencing generator problems..

The group on board radioed reporting an "electrical" smell, and the A/C malfuntioning, and downstairs lights not working..

Maintenence crews just radioed back informing them that they had probably lost the generator, and they're instructing him to reset a DPDT breaker in the generator compartment..


Earlier there were a bunch of wholigans on 16 acting ignorant, and some dude plowed in the middle of them and said Channel 16 is for hailing and emergeny use only!! :lol:

I'm hearing (right now) some chick from the Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River talking to a Captain of a ship on the 514? mile marker of the lower Mississippi river with a generator out. I can only hear her side of the conversation.

They keep switching from Marine 16 to Marine 22.

She asked several times for a total number of passengers and just now asked if the captain had a cell phone.

Hmm... the conversation continues...

Now she's asking for number of barges in tow.
Now she's asking for the depth of the deepest barges in tow.
Now she's asking if the boat is currently blocking the channel.
Now she's advising the captain to give them an update when they get underway in the morning.

She advised the captain if anything further happened to give her a call on Channel 16.

Interesting. I guess.

2 people missing from there boat with out life jackets also some idiot radioed in that a party store was getting robbed i radioed in and told her to disreguard because i heard laughing in the back ground


also macomb county sheriff is monitoring this channel as well
