I'm new to scanners. I just purchased a whistler digital scanner. Everything seems to be working great except when ems gives radio reports to hospitals I can't hear the hospital respond back to ems. It's a minor issue but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Any input would be great!

Both hospitals in my area have a frequency 155.34. One has a CT: 103.5 and the other is 94.8. So I'm assuming I need to program the repeater output of each hospital?

If the hospital's tone is not programmed into your radio (assuming of course that other tones are...) then you would not hear it.

You could add a Scanlist (Favorites List for Uniden people) that includes this PL and Freq combination. You could have the freq in there without PL, that would allow you to hear anything on the freq regardless of PL.

I would however make sure that the RadioReference database gets updated with the other PL's so that it is included in the Database. Then you would not need a separate list for it and it would be properly identified when active.

155.340 is the output frequency for both. The one using 103.5 is a repeater, the one using 94.8 isn't. It is operating in simplex mode. You may want to program in 155.340 with SEARCH mode to see if they are using a different CTCSS tone.
What kind of antenna are you using? That can determine if you can hear the hospitals too.

You're very welcome. I've been an active scannist for a long time. It's the little things that I've learned that make the difference.
