All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

I have been fighting with a used GD77 for some days now. So far, I have managed to get the radio to be seen by the laptop (Win 7 but not Win 10). I get the 'bong' when the radio is switched on and the USB 'Mouse DEMO' driver that others report is there. However, when I try to download the codeplug from the radio, using the Radioddity CPS, I get a message which says "Model Mismatch".

Looking at the info on the radio, I can find "Soft-Version v2.06.06" and Dev-Version HRC6000 V1.2.6" It also shows a last program date of June 2019.

I have tried all the versions of the CPS which are available on the Radioddity website with the same result - "Model Mismatch".

Has anyone any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I want to load OpenGD77 Firmware but am loath to do this until I know it works in its original form. Many thanks.

Just go for OpenGD77. Dont bother with stock.
When I look at other information regarding software and firmware compatibilities I have a feeling that the CPS which is available on Radioddity is too 'modern' for the various programmes that are in this, seemingly, old GD77. The 'Must Read Tips' say: V2.6.2, V2.4.2 or others lower than V2.6.6----upgrade firstly to V2.6.6 or V2.6.8 or V3.0.6 then to V3.1.1 or higher versions. Mine is v2.06.06. It also says:
Firmware V3.0.6 is compatible with software V2.0.5. Firmware V3.1.1 and after V3.1.1 are compatible with software V3.1.1. I can't find a source of the lower firmware/CPS versions; they are not on the Radioddity site. My concern is whether OpenGD77 is compatible with my older stock firmware? The OpenGD77 instructions indicate that I need to: Unzip the donor firmware zip file, extract the 'GD-77 V4.3.6.sgl' file. This is well in advance of the firmware version that I guess must be on my radio as it has soft v2.06.06. I just have a concern that the radio will not understand what to do with v4.3.6 and die😬. Am I overthinking this?

No, they are over doing it with updates. I will look on my PC for any older stock firmware. I may have older OpenGD77 firmware that may play nice with your present setup, too.
