I'm hearing some law enforcement traffic on 453.200 with a PL I haven't captured yet. FCC callsign is KYK296.

Coordinates show a transmitter location a few blocks from the Capitol.

Does anyone know who this could be? Can't find it in any of my books.

Hey bud, I've heard CHP (capitol divsion) use this freq often. I've heard it used as a freq used to escort/transport officials to Sac Intl.

It's in the database under this link

Yeah, just by the traffic I figured CHP (They are the only ones I've ever heard use 10-98) but couldn't confirm. Didn't think to look in the database here :)

I was just by the Capitol on Thursday and there is huge tower behind the building with a bunch of antennas on it. I'm gonna have to do a search and see what's on it.

What traffic was coming across it? Were they rebroadcasting the Gold or Black? Or was it actual operations on it? Any PL?

I just bought a Kenwood lowband radio so all the other scanners are sitting idle, otherwise I'd listen in and try to help.

KYK296 is the call sign for the old State Police. A few years ago they merged with the CHP and so that is now a CHP channel, but NOT for "highway patrol". The traffic I've heard lately on that channel is around the Capitol building. RR shows that as being CHP channel 7.

They weren't rebroadcasting the low=band stuff, but it was law enforcement type traffic. PL was 127.3

I've been listening to it. Sounds exactly like the traffic that would be normal for their 460.375 channel. Have to see if it's a simulcast, or if the 460.375 has changed.

That is the CHP OCAPS "Metro" channel. I've heard them use that frequency whenever they're having problems with the 460.375 freq. I've heard the dispatcher tell all the units to switch to "Metro", then she does a roll call to make sure they all made it down there.
