Been listening to toon police for a couple years since I bought my scanner (pro-96). Now they have gone encypted and would like to listen to RCMP. I have been doing some reading and non of it makes much sense as I am pretty much a newbie.

Looking for somebody to lend a hand and help me programming this thing, can I use win 96 like I did with programming Saskatoon? can I just simply upload a file to my scanner?

Please let me know.
Thanks

Boom apparently the Pro 96 will scan this system. You are going to need a hand from someone in your area that knows what tower is the one for monitoring the Saskatoon area and the custom table to program in the Pro 96. I am surprised that one of the locals haven't put a name on the site/ towers listed in the data base for easier reference. I know there is a list of counties , but I wouldn't know which one is Saskatoon's county

Saskatchewan Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Also the site numbers but no description on where they are all located.

Saskatchewan Provincial Public Safety (RCMP P25 System) Trunking System, Provincewide, Saskatchewan - Scanner Frequencies

Good luck , wish I could be a little more help for you.

Boom a fellow Saskatchewan resident might be able to help you out.

Colby you mentioned that you monitored the Saskatoon site. Which tower / site is affiliated with City of Saskatoon for the Saskatchewan Provincial Public Safety (RCMP P25 System)? Also do you know what the custom table would be for that city for programing in the Pro 96?

I do monitor the Saskatoon talkgroup, however I do so from Regina.

I BELIEVE that the Saskatoon tower is the same as Regina, 139.2450, but I'm not completely sure. That was the control channel when I was up there last.

Boom, using your scanner, search between 138 MHz and 139.5 MHz for the sound of a P25 system. Where ever there is that noise, that is the control channel for your area. You would then have to create a custom table using that frequency.

Here is an article in the Wiki that was put together in regards to setting up these custom tables.

Saskatchewan P25 and Trunktrackers - The RadioReference Wiki

Give that a try. If the control channel in Saskatoon is that same as in Regina, then you're lucky because a table for that is already created.

I have no experience with the Pro 96 so maybe mobile1 or someone else monitoring the system with a Pro 96 could pitch in here as well.

Good luck!

Boom if you like give this file a try.

Make sure you save the present set up of your pro 96 to a v folder or download it from your scanner to Win 96 and save it to reload later if you don't like this one I made.

The Regina P25 one is in Bank 0 with the custom tables set as suggested in the Wiki.

Thanks scnnr!

I was hoping someone with a file would stop by.

Boom, while this is the Regina site, it should be no different than the one in Saskatoon. Pop this in your Pro 96 and give it a try.

The Saskatoon TGID is 62.

Good luck!

You have to make sure you have the Saskatoon talkgroup programmed and I BELIEVE with the Pro 96 because of the type of system, you have to be on one talkgroup at a time? Give that a try.

If he installed my file that I uploaded it has all the Regina tg's in it but I also left it in open mode so it should pick up anything that is on that system if it is the same cc as Regina for Saskatoon. Open mode is the same as running a wildcard on the psr 500

Boom press manual while in that bank and see if you get the control channel noise. If so hit scan.

One other question I have. Since this new system is a trunked system is it a Motorola system? I have it programmed as Mot mode .

It is NOT a Motorola system. It is a true P25 system.

Like I said, I don't know much about the Pro 96, but if there is the option this should just be set as P25.

Ok I haven't made it out your way Colby. I have the pro 96 as well as the psr -500 which I assume I would program in all the control channels and set it at auto for the p25 system.

Hopefully someone in your area with a pro 96 will explain how the settings are set for Saskatchewan new p25 system.

Edit

I have been doing some searching and found that some of the folks on this thread got their Pro 96's set up trunking great. Maybe we can convince Jewison or one of the others to attach a zip file of the win 96 file they have and upload it for us to try.
