• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi, I just came across your comment for information on how encryption is performed within the DMR standard (RC4 and AES). I can't find any information on google about how the encryption is done or other technical specifications. If you could find it somewhere, please let me know. That image I attached refers to some particular MOTOROLA technical documents that I can't find anywhere, only the patents that appear in the Radioreference link.
DM I received from OP. Anyone able to assist further?

All of us who are able to assist you simply don't want to. It's one thing to ask questions, learn, think for yourself, be inquisitive, etc. I really enjoy helping people understand. You aren't doing something called research.

Then you come here and essentially tell people to finish their beer, shake off the dribbles, and immediately address your request? Nah I'm good.

Sadly, the forums are full of members like the OP, and it seems to be getting worse every year. Members who create dozens of threads or posts asking very basic questions, rather than taking the time to RTFM or do any bit of research on their own. It's amazing that some of them are able to figure out how to turn their scanners/radios on and off without someone giving them detailed instructions or linking them to a video showing the steps. Worst is that some of these people actually believe that "doing research" includes asking others to spoon feed them answers to fundamental questions, which they could figure out on their own if they put an ounce of effort into it.

Unfortunately we also have certain members who simply can't help replying to every thread, chiming in with an "answer" to these questions (often not even the correct info), which only encourages the bad behavior. It's one thing to be helpful or to promote productive discussions, and certain there are plenty of legitimate questions that can and should be asked in a discussion forum, but that's not really what we're talking about here. We're talking about basic stuff that people ought to learn on their own instead of depending on others to put the work in for them.

This place has become quite a drag lately.
