hey guys i work for a company where i listen to scanners for damage to house/commercial buildings and i was wondering if there are any good books to read on learning about our bearcat uniden 898t scanners? also are there any other good books to learn about the Radio frequency interference? thank you guys for the help and any sort of help or right direction would be nice. I have lately become really interested in our scanners and learning more info on it. Thanks again.

You might do much better to go to the Texas forum and ask what folks are using in the Houston area. Since many areas are moving to digital trunking, it's an important consideration these days.

The Houston Scan Yahoo group also looks very active (note: anything in blue is a link).

I should note that your question was a little odd - when someone mentions 'amatuer' (sic) the first thing most folks would assume would be amateur radio. While scanners and amateur radio do work together, you don't necessarily need to be a ham (except in states where mobile scanners are prohibited, unless you are a ham) to use one.
