help programming bcd996xt

just got it and cant figure this thing out need to set to listen to opp off the king tower

wondering what software you are using, to program the scanner.

assuming you have already purchased the uniden USB-1 USB cable

I am using ARC-XT. It is quite easy to use. I also have FREESCAN installed as well,
( and it is FREE ! ) and it too is easy to use.

I downloaded the FREESCAN about a month before I purchased the radio and played with it.
you don't need the scanner for either program. when I was comfortable with Freescan, I went
ahead and purchased ARC-XT software and played with it before I even attempted to set up
the scanner. I had the scanner a couple of weeks before I ever messed with it. I made sure
I was comfortable with the software before turning on the radio.

do not have usb cable no software just thought i could peck it in by hand but it is more complecated than i thought . anybody local in toronto area that could help would be a big help.

necessity to purchase the USB cable ( computer to radio )

ARC-XT PRO was about $60.00
but you can download FREESCAN for free. it does a pretty good job
