Hello All !

I purchased the 200-0289 data cable for the Pro-95. And my question is how do I use the Win95 software with the Pro-95. When I plug in the data cable nothing happens. Am I suppose to press a sequence of buttons during the boot sequence ?

Follow the direction in the owners manual for programming vias software... be sure your win95 is open and then use the commands from the win95 to configure, read, and send data to your 95.

the manual isn't helping me out when connecting the pro-95 to the computer. I'm not getting any type of commands when I plug in the cable to the pro-95.

btw .... I'm running the cable via a searial port to USB.

You don't have an open serial port on your machine, just USB? While *I* haven't had that type of problem, I've got *10* serial ports on my `main' machine and 2 on my laptops, I have heard several others who've had to try several different USB-to-Serial convertors before they found one that worked correctly. One person tried everything Belkin and several other brands put out with no avail and ended up with a `no-name' `internet "blue light special"' one that worked perfectly yet another tried several other brands and finally tried a Belkin and had it work right. Since the RS/GRE cable is only serial I suspect that until they actually come out with a USB version you are going to have to try different convertors until you find the `magic?' combination for your computer. {WAN GRIN!} 'Course this is also `assuming' that you have the USB port setup right to begin with which can, at times, be a real PITA on some machines. {FROWN!}

I got the RS serial cable to work with my Pro-95. I brought my Pro-95 and serial cable to work with me and transferred the files to my work computer via mini usb hard drive. Everything went smoothly with Win95 and my Pro-95.

My suggestion is do not purchase el cheapo serial to usb off of eBay.
