Unless you show pics of your install, it is hard to tell you which way to go.
All I have found is that your tap will be from pin 9 of a chip labeled with 3361

I can dig out my service manual, if you need pointers. (I think I know where it is.)

Click "Go Advanced" where you post a message then scroll down to additional options and click mangage attachments.

Or........

You can set up a photobucket account (or other such service) then paste the link to the file here.

According to this page:
Discriminator tap points
The Pro51, Pro44, etc should be similar.

Here is some more technical jargon:
Scandata faq q2 - The RadioReference Wiki

Here is a thread on the Pro51
http://forums.radioreference.com/ge...lp-installing-discriminator-tap-pro-51-a.html

Here is the Pro37. It has a question mark beside it so it looks like it was in question.
Discriminator Output Realistic PRO-37

Those should give you a good idea where to go, but if you have had it wired up several times then you may have burnt up your scanner. There have been several bricks made by installing a tap. Does the scanner still work?

Oh ok. I see that now that I reread the post he made. Sorry.

Looks like your on the right chip. Looking at the orientation of the 3661 chip here http://forums.radioreference.com/ge...lp-installing-discriminator-tap-pro-51-a.html it appears your on the right pin. Its hard to tell from the pic but it looks like your solder is right up against D201 which wouldnt be good.

Where is your capacitor?
Do you know what resistance the resistor is?
What color are the bands on it?

Here he is using a 10k resistor. Discriminator Output Realistic PRO-37 which is brown, black and orange. If yours is brown, orange and green then that is a 1.3m ohm resistor.
Resistor color code calculator - 3, 4 and 5 band resistors

It looks like your shield wire is grounded to the frame. I dont know but I dont think its supposed to be maybe someone else will chime in.

And you're feeding the signal to the right channel (ring)? Any particular reason why? Are you sure that the mic jack is stereo?

Ah Ive gotten turned around here somehow thinking that was a mono plug which it looks like a stereo plug to me.

Arent you supposed to use a mono plug?

If you use a stereo plug then wouldnt the red and black wire have to be hooked together and the shield grounded?

Im not sure whethere you need a capacitor or not. Ive seen some that use a capacitor and some that dont. I know what they are but not sure why they are used. Maybe someone will clarify why they are used.

You need to use a mono plug or jack (computer microphone plugins are mono if that is where your going to plug it). You can always get a mono to stereo adapter later if you need it. The mono plug is only going to have 2 connections.
1) The center wire or positive: connects to the resistor or capacitor. Where your red wire is now.
2) The shield or ground: connects to the scannner ground. Where your shield wire is now.

Before you try to cut the black wire off and use the stereo jack with a mono plug, dont. Just do yourself a favor and use a mono plug or jack. Use a multimeter and check the resistor to see if you get anything through it to make sure it isnt fried.
