help to program radioshack pro652

hello all, i just invested in another scanner as my area is now going phase 1 but im only catching my local area, i like to get out few towns but not sure how to program this scanner to work with the system .. towns i like to hear are p25 in reference.. its the radioshack pro652... do i set this for p25 under tgrp pr tsys? im confused on this part . any help appreciated

You're likely going to suffer from simulcast distortion on this system if you're within range of two or more towers on the simulcast & monitoring with anything other than a Uniden SDS100 (or 200). Also most law enforcement in Mercer County is fully encrypted (mode "DE"). Not sure if you're aware of this or not. You'll only be able to pick up mode "D" talkgroups. Welcome to the forums!

oh no... how would i know if im within range of these towers ? right now im only hearing my town clearly , but after checking other towns i like to pickup, they are on different systems

Not sure if you're aware of this or not. You'll only be able to pick up mode "D" talkgroups. Welcome to the forums!

You will not be able to receive anything on the NJICS statewide trunked system. It is P25 Phase 2 (T in Mode column). The PRO-652 is capable of Phase 1 only. Which other towns would you like to receive? It is far faster and easier to use software for programming. I use Butel ARC500 Basic for my PRO-197, the older brother of your PRO-652. Both use the same software.

Regarding Mercer County's trunked system you specified, click here and look at the tower map to determine where you are relative to them (link was also given to you in post #4). If you're hearing stuttering or missed transmissions then you're likely suffering from simulcast distortion.
