BCT15X: Help with a BCT15X

Hello. I was looking for a scanner that I could also set so that at night it would only go off if my fire department was toned out. I bought a BCT15X because it seemed like the right thing. But I am just overwhelmed programming/setting it up. I just want to be able to set it so that it scans half a dozen or so channels, and then (hopefully with just a couple button presses) I can set it so that it's not scanning, and will just go off if we're toned out. I downloaded Freescan. But I'm having trouble figuring out what to set up and where.

If I could also get a weather frequency and SAME alert in there, that'd be great too.

Any advice or suggestions? Did I buy something way more complicated and expensive than I need?
