Hi, I'm a relatively new scanner user interested in listening to the activity at the Boeing plant in Everett, WA. According to the database here: Scanner Frequencies: Boeing Everett Plant Trunking System, Everett, Washington there are two control channels for this site. My scanner is a Pro-164, which has Control Channel Only programming, so I programmed in those two channels, set the bank as a Motorola trunked system, programmed in the talk groups, and started scanning. At first, everything seemed perfect, I even discovered some new talk groups not listed in the database, so I was confident everything was working... Until I noticed that I wasn't receiving all of the talk groups I should be, in fact only about half. Then I noticed that the first control channel, 851.66250, didn't show the T icon that indicates a trunking control channel. However, when I would manually listen to that channel, a large number of new talk group id's would be displayed, ones that I had never seen before. It shows a strong signal, but the highest "message decode success rate" I've seen has been 35%, as opposed to the other control channel which decodes 99%. I've tried putting it in it's own bank, in case there was a conflict between the two control channels, but nothing changed. Does anyone have any idea what might cause such a low decode success rate?

Probably too far from that site to receive the CC, best thing is try a diffrent Antenna, Outside 1 if possible. Also I usually program ALL the frquencies because you never when the system may switch C C's. 1 last thing you may want to do if already haven't is check The Firmware & see if you have the latest version, go the radio shack ewbsite & Download & install it, you will also need the programming cable to do this

Thanks :D I don't think range was an issue, I was within 1/2 mile of the plant ;)

I programmed in the rest of the frequencies, and they act just like the first control channel... so I guess it's just not a control channel anymore. Still, I'm a bit mystified that after 3 days of listening I haven't heard any radio messages relating to Boeing's newest airplane, the 787, which is currently undergoing final preparations for flight test. Maybe they've switched to a digital system for that program =\

He said he used to Rx it fine.

What about Rebanding?

I checked on that.

It says
'See 2nd Report & Order [DA 08-1094]', I read through it, I can't make a whole lot of sense of the info.

Also it sounds like he's saying they have 2 CCs active?

Low decode could be the reason it is not trunking properly.
The only reason to find out for sure is to see if he can get closer to the system.
