Trying to get the groups and trunking broken into pieces so they can be programmed in to BCD996P2. I figured it out for conventional but not trunked.

Any help appreciated. Thank you

System First Responder Contains 42 Channel Groups Exceeded The Limit Of 20
System First Responder Contains 974 Channels Per Trunking System Exceeded The Limit Of 500
System PA-STARNet: Penn Contains 85 Channel Groups Exceeded The Limit Of 20

I don't know about the 996 P2 but my SDS200 has no problem with large statewide systems.

I believe what you are calling "channel groups" are better known as Agencies. I believe what you are calling channels are Talkgroup. And I believe what you are calling channels per system sites (1 or more radio sites that broadcast on several frequencies per site).

For example, Colorado DTRS statewide public safety has over 100 sites. Each site has 3 or more towers capable of transmitting on 4 to 8 frequencies. The system is used by about 90% of the public safety agencies in the State that can each have multiple talkgroups (the equivalent of conventional channels (frequencies).

Etc.

Generally the earlier models of scanners (as in x96) aren't very friendly when it comes to programming large regional systems. Often one has to be creative and "regionalize" the programming - breaking the system down into sub-areas.

The wording Uniden used for those earlier scanners can be a little confusing too. You can store up to 20 ‘Groups’ per ‘System’ with up to 1000 frequencies or 500 talkgroup IDs in each ‘Group’.

You can have 1000 total channels per conventional system and up to 256 ‘Sites’ if you have enough memory. You can have a maximum of 500 Systems, 1000 Sites, and 25,000 Channels.

All of this stuff is cumulative in the scanner memory. So for example on sites, you can have one system with 250 sites, but if you try to add another system with 7 sites you'll get an error because you've exceeded that 256 limit by 1.

Lastly, when it comes to total channels per system, each site frequency and each talkgroup counts as a channel. So if you have 5 frequencies for those 250 sites, you've exceeded the limit without ever getting to the talkgroups.
