Many thanks for this forum's member, I get much help.

I have a raspberry Pi 3 with a TH-D7 lying around I would like to set as a IGate, I could test my HT's around the area and doing my abouts. I'm in a center of a zone where coverage is sporadic and hard to get on 5w. The D7 has an TNC like you know and I have loads of cables, I'm sure I'll get something running.

I've searched a lot and can't find any tutorial on how to set this pecular setup(pi3+TH-D7). Do you, any of you very knowledgeable fellows, have a full tutorial on how to achieve this? I can setup the pi but I'm not versed in the art of linux nor direwolf. I would need a step by step tutorial with the sudo command and all.

Many thanks

Not sure exactly how tech savvy you are, but this is the writeup I used to build mine, written by a local that knows what he is doing: Building an APRS IGate | Wayne Technical Fanatics

I did simplify it a bit, but this should point you in the right direction, modify as necessary for your hardware.

@tweiss3 thanks, good start.

I failed to mention this will be a very local RX Igate.(not to disrupt messages or kill the hops)

That link will go into my bookmark but I believe it’s not that necessary, unless I’m wrong.

Keep the power low and keep the elevation relatively low. You may also want to turn off the digipeat function. Mine does not digipeat, but it does operate 2-way.
