I have a new pro-96 which I love. I do need some advice as I'm having trouble with a couple of programming issues.

I have ASP Troop A downloaded from the win96 software. One channel it doesn't come in consistently, and when it does it sometimes cuts in and out sounding garbled.

I downloaded Troop J info into another bank and the channel will "hang up" on what it identifies as awin site 238. I drive from Conway to Morrilton everyday and the hang up seems to occur at Menifee. It does do this sometimes in Conway though also. I downloaded the Troop A freq. onto yet another bank and the same frequencie hangs up while either trying to recieve troop J or troop A. Both troops come in over these same "hang up" frequencies.

I was also wondering if there is a way to search for ID's on the scanner. I have several saved and can see them on the win 96 software, but don't know how to pull them up manually on the scanner.

I hope this makes some sense, as I'm very new to this. Any help would be appreciated.

The 'garbled' issue may be encryption. I'm not sure if the ASP Troop A is running digital, but if they are its always a possibility that they are using encryption which does sound garbled, or some people say it sounds like they are talking underwater.

On the 96 there is not really any way to 'search' for ID's , BUT you can scan in what it called open mode. Here's how to do it. Go to the bank that you have troop a (or troop j) , or whichever trunked system you are trying to search for ID's for. For examle , if you have the trunked radio system (or TRS for short) in bank 2 then press manual, 200, manual. This will put you on channel 200. Then, press Func - 5 to toggle the bank between closed and open modes. In closed mode you will only hear the ID's that you have programmed into the scanner and not locked out. In open mode you will hear all ID's regardless of what you have programmed / locked out. Once you hear / see an ID that you dont have programmed (it will come up as just numbers, no alpha tag) you can use the database on this site and use it as a cross-reference.

Hope this helps

So I suppose I can scan say bank 300 in open mode, save everything I want to hear on that, download it in the win96 software, then label it, then close the bank and this should narrow down what I want to hear? I really appreciate your help!

I monitor Troops A, K, E, G, and sometimes F if the conditions are good. I have monitored troop A and K from the time they came on line and they are all in the clear, but they are all Digital.
Arkansas State police are on the AWIN System as well as some Counties.
