Help with Win95

Ok, I got the programing cable 20-289(?), then had to go buy a serial port to USB cable, downloaded Win95, hooked everything up and it doesn't work.

Win95 only lets me select COM ports... is one of these my USB port? I'm totally confused.

Yes. Start with trying com1 and if that doesn't work keep going up. I think i saw one person using the USB port that had to go to com5 to get it to recogize the scanner.

Is there a certain way (scanning, manual, program mode) that my scanner has to be in? I'm up to port 20 with no luck. Also, do I have to close Win95 and re-open it every time I change ports, or can I change the number and then try to download from scanner.

how to unlock frequencies?

ok....got it figured out. Now how do I get to the unblocked frequencies.

Bottom center of Settings/Weather Tab, check the box next to Extended Frequencies.

To receive "unlocked freqs" just simply enter in the freqs under the "channels" tab. Win95 will "unlock" a great deal of ranges, but NOT those in the cellular area. I think fmon was thinking of Win96.

Is there a way to scan through a locked set of frequencies?

I tried inputing a "blocked" frequency range in the limit search tab, and then uploaded to the scanner. When I went to the scanner it wouldn't let me into the blocked frequencies. (I was not trying cellular)
