If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi I am new to P25. Can someone help me this? I have 2 UHF XTS-3000 radios that show on the flash code (Q241 Astro Ready) I will like to know what will be the optinon needed to operate the radios on P25 for Amateur use? and if only the option is needed or do the radios also need software upgrade.

Thanks for your help

Your radio is flashed as analog only. You need this feature set to do P25 & conventional:

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H35/G48 Conventional Operation

Thanks! What I understand, I only have to load software on the radio or do I need hardware as well? I live in El Paso TX and have to find someone to do this.

What is the current version of the Host/DSP? If it's high enough to support IMBE (which I doubt), then all you'd need to do is "Frankenflash" the radios with MTSX lab. Otherwise, you're going to have to update the firmware in the radios via a Smart RIB with a flash upgrade from Motorola - read: $$$

Well, the "A" means analog only. You must update the firmware in the radio. The only legit way is to call Motorola and purchase a firmware upgrade. Short of that, there may be someone that can do it for you, but it's still going to cost money. One thing for sure, you're not going to be able to frankenflash that radio to do IMBE with lab.

Good luck.
