We appealed last year's assessment and got a $280 credit on this year's bill. We filed an appeal last night because we are listed for 2 full baths but only have a shower in the master.

A fire chief had a 2 way dealer clone his portable into a Viking and it worked fine for his test period, no one knew. Steel dynamics offered 10 free portables to our FD but then 911 director Steve Cook refused to issued IDs so we spent about $50,000 on Motorola.
I just found out Whitely county has the AXS system.

I'm doing research to see what advantages it might have. If we break free from Motorola we can use consoles from independent vendors.
We all want the best performance for the least cost.

Your county's purchasing department should be involved. Standard government purchasing rules usually nix this sort of stuff, unless someone is allowing it to happen, or someone found a loophole that needs to be closed.

We recently started a joint project with our county, and while I'm bound to all kinds of strict purchasing rules through my job, I had to sign all kinds of new documents saying that I'd abide by the county rules also.

The director's actions probably violated state policy but the fire chief did not push it. Now that the state's radio system is moving under our state DHS we are hoping there will be more transparency.

I have read somewhere here on the forums that Hamilton County will indeed be encrypting fire dispatch as well!

I'm curious as to where you heard about this. My agency borders them and they have not indicated to us they'll be encrypting further.

If there is one thing Hendricks County is good at, it is covering stuff up. This is all a ploy to keep things hush hush. At least for now it seems they will keep the online feed. Hopefully they don't take that away!!

The commissioners have Renee on the agenda for encrypting fire dispatch at their Tuesday 0900 meeting.
I'm out of town teaching an ETA class so I can't speak for we 2nd class citizens.
I'm hoping Bob Gentry will speak against it.

Last Thursday I heard our and Brownsburg's engines sent to a chemical spill at 1000N and 275E. I called Bob to see if he was OK
since his farm is at that corner. He said they had an ammonia leak but got it shut off, he was very surprised anyone called 911.

It was either a Boone County or Whitestown unit that called it in and we forwarded it to Hendricks County. After the explosion in Thorntown we've had a noticeable increase in reported anhydrous leaks from people not wanting to take chances.

The problem is, what argument would anyone make that doesn't sound like "I just want to know what's going on"?
I worked at a security job with a former school safety director. He disliked encryption. He said people with scanners helped his department locate children who ran off or otherwise got lost, that they were searching for.
Private security departments rely on scanners because first responders often don't communicate with them. My department was at private property and PD received calls onto our property that they never informed us about. In one instance, it was a suicidal individual who actually showed up on site a few hours later. I notified our road unit from info heard on the scanner. When he did show up on property, he called PD and got him detained for a mental eval, earning him.an award from the city.

Now that I've watched the stream of the Hendricks County Commissioners meeting, only 32-F-DSP would be encrypted. The 32-F-OPS* talkgroups would not be encrypted. 32-F-DSP would still be streamed through Hendricks 911's official feeds with 30 minute delay.

Commissioners meeting stream cued to the beginning of this discussion:

Well what about the vhf dispatch frequencies? Are they shutting them down? Bad bad juju encrypting analog vhf. Never works right, and no pagers except for Unications for that. And now they must work with Marion County and share keys. They won't like this.

I heard VHF is going away so it will be limited to Unication from what I've seen in the stations.
