Good day everyone

I've got a regency Mx-7000
that like 30-35 years back. and when i bought it new
had to work a months worth of overtime, had it on hold
at the shop across the Bridge from me.

had the keyboard replaced
Xtal replaced, Dc Power jack changed over to a Wall Wort
from OME Jack.

problem I'm having
the radio goes off frequency
the display goes south numbers come and go.
and it got an inter mod problem.

is it worth fixing
if i can find a repair shop
or parts.

the last shop that repaired
the unit the business closed,
and the owner retired a year or so back.

it's got a super low S/n.
what i'm thinking is getting another at a swap meet,

Any help would be great
on junking it or fixing it.

I'm retired and on a tight income.

thanks much
Darryl

Are you getting enough current/voltage from that wall wart? Try running from a car battery. I had that same model back in the 80's , used it to hear MILSATS and ATS 3 and ATS 6 satellites. Quite a bit of noise generated from within so lined the case with aluminum tape. Otherwise worked well. Your intermod may be due to local transmitters.

I used foil tape with adhesive back so it would not short any parts. I lined the plastic case so that it would make contact with the frame when assembled.

Capacitors. Electrolytic caps go bad. I have fixed old receivers that drift off frequency and have all sorts of bad behavior that get fixed by doing a capacitor refresh. I don't try and troubleshoot them. I just replace capacitors knowing they are probably bad. Electrolytic capacitors that are decades old are suspect. I have an old stereo receiver that is drifting bad. I took it out of storage and was disappointed. I will be doing a capacitor refresh on it soon. If you buy an old radio that hasn't had the capacitors replaced, it could very well have problems.

But as RFI-EMI-GUY suggested, if the power supply isn't doing its job, that can cause all sorts of problems.

Hi
Any thoughts on where i can find a place to get a radio this old fixed,
years ago i was able to fix this kind of stuff.

Years back i was able to get it fixed
but the guy retired and sold his business.

i need to find a service manual and part list for the Mx-7000
I've had the Christal replaced a Keyboard it now on top of the cover,
and the power connecter replace to a standard type.

what my plan is to find a guy in my ham
club to fix it for me.

or find another one like it at a swap meet or
on this site, i don't trust E-Bay anyway

i've got too much into this radio anyway.

Any ideas how to fix it would be great.

thanks
Darryl
