SDS100/SDS200: Hidden gem in the new firmware, maybe next release?

Also dPMR can be found on any frequency, not just the EU FRS-like PMR446 bands. I have a pair of KiriSun radios I bought back in late 2013 when I was looking for a cheap option for encrypted radios. Which it does on dPMR mode, they work in the 400-512 range and I was using them on 458 MHz.

Granted this was before the DMR explosion though and before the likes of BaoFeng/Retevis/TYT started flooding the market with cheap DMR capable radios like the legendary MD380 a couple years later. Back then when going DMR was a way people were getting away from the average pesky scannerist.

This is extremely useful information. It basically telling us that the dPMR code is not even in the USA FW. If it was then Uniden could be selling it as a purcahsable option and pay royalties based on sales.
As the dPMR code turned up now in the firmware, when the waterfall was introduced, might indicate that a deal have been made, Avera gets the Waterfall implementation for the E models and Uniden USA in their turn gets to use dPMR in their firmware. A Win-Win situation for all.

Ubbe and redbeard. Again thanks for the clarification. I had initially thought only the code to activate the feature was in the firmware but not the actual decoding code. I stand corrected.

Isn't that the digital mode selected for when marine/maritime frequencies go digital?
I think it was mentioned that was going to be more similar but not exactly the same as NXDN, not dPMR.
Yes on CCRs like I just said. Cheap way to get encryption too.
Wasn't the first 'DMR' Baofeng dPMR too since it was Tier 1 DMR with no slots? dPMR=DMR T1?

It functions in the same way as Tier 1 DMR would with the lack of slots but is actually a different codec and even sounds different if you were to pick the signal raw or on NFM. Digital Private Mobile Radio (dPMR) - Signal Identification Wiki

It did predate the popularization of DMR on TYT and Baofeng handhelds though and other than Hytera there was pretty much no low cost DMR entry options so it filled a niche for a while. Kind of irrelevant now though with the saturated DMR market but it served a useful role 10 years ago. I don't know if any manufacturer even makes programmable frequency commercial type radios with it anymore though, I just looked on ebay and noticed someone still selling the TYT DM-UVF10 from 2014 though.
