High Speed Chase

Maple Creek RCMP chased a stolen 2007 Jeep from east of the 21 highway JCT into Alberta. Jeep went around the spike belts set up in Sask. Redcliff RCMP set up spike belts west of Irvine at a bridge. Suspect seen the spike belts and road block. Suspect made a U-Turn and thought hitting a Maple Creek RCMP car then heading off into the open field would be a good idea. The Jeep got stuck, The guy tried to run. The Medicine Hat PD had a K-9 unit in the area and the suspect gave up as soon as the dog was on his heels. You just cant out run a 2-way radio or a dog.

Everyone is 10-70.

Good work.. are the Maple Creek Mounties on VHF or the P25 system listed in the DB? Do you know if the P25 radios are configured to use the conventional repeaters/simplex channels as well (considering they're both VHF, they should be)?

In other words, did things work out from an interoperability standpoint?

I am not sure but I think the Maple Creek RCMP are on the new digital system in Sask. I monitor the VHF channels in Sask. and have not heard anything in months. The Maple Creek cars had no communication patches with the Redcliff RCMP like they have had in the past so this would make me think they are digital. Redcliff is still on the VHF conventional system. Communications were being relayed from Regina to Reddeer OCC.
