BOULDER - Police have arrested two suspects in a home-invasion robbery, which included the assault of an 80-year-old man.
The robbery happened Thursday around 5:45 p.m. in the 3800 block of 19th Street in Boulder. Police say the elderly victim was assaulted by the suspects, but he refused transport to the hospital.
Police arrested Dan Thomas, 31, and Charles Turner, 36 for the crimes later on Thursday. The men could face charges of first degree kidnapping, first degree burglary and third degree assault of an at-risk adult.
Police say the victim was at home alone when he answered a knock at the door. The robbery suspects then made their way into the house. One of the men began looking around the home, and the victim asked the men to leave. At that point the suspects assaulted the victim and searched the house for valuables.
Although police say he was repeatedly assaulted, the victim was able to call police after the robbery suspects fled with money, jewelry and other valuables.
Police located the suspects near 30th Street and Redwood Avenue after someone recognized the suspects from descriptions heard over a police scanner. The suspects were arrested without incident, according to police reports.
Both suspects were employed by a magazine sales company in Greenwood Village.
Investigators are now looking into whether Thomas and Turner were involved in any other crimes in the Boulder area.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Boulder Police Department at (303) 441-3333.
