Houston County SO , just changed systems on 8/20.2022 . I went on FCC Site for lic info , just a run around . . I can still hear local Dothan PD , and EMS on P25 Phase one, but have no idea , where Sheriff Dept moved. Local news cited 7 repeater sites and DIGITAL UHF , but no MODE or anything else mentioned . Anyone with any info , would be appreciated , hoping Whistler TRX2
would be compatable for reprogramming .. Thanks .....

I would start looking at the UHF Band Scanning 450 to 470 with your TRX you will find them but 7 sites sounds like simulcast which the TRX may not like.

A couple of months ago when the system came online the jail was the only system and it is encrypted.
I am in recovery from knee replacement and my computer chair doesn't like my new knee, so limited listening time.
So far Dispatch is clear, nothing else, have to wait and see. I need the 2 frequencies for Site 6 and and I think it will be
complete. I use an SDR radio and DSDPlus software to monitor with. I am in the west so Columbia and Gordon come in
weak. PM me if specific questions, NORCO keeps me sleepy most of the time so a response maybe slow.

Sector46 I'll punch the numbers for this system into my TRX2 file and will PM them to you if you want? I'll have to learn scanner talk again, just didn't enjoy my TRX2. May take awhile, right now my new knee is throbbing. Someone may have it in the RR database all ready, may have missed it.

I bought the extended warranty on mine. No joke, I did have a dream right before my replacement that my new knee had a micro USB port for which the doctor explained was for firmware upgrades. But six years later it's doing well.

HCSO went to the NXDN system and like the Vol Fire and EMS, it has scrambler capabilities so no one with a scanner will be able to listen

buddrousa you are right. Houston County dispatch is "CLEAR", the jail is "ENCRYPTED" and a few individual units are "ENCRYPTED". I have not had the time or desire to post to the RR database yet, but will in about a couple of months. Health has been bad but should improve so I can have more computer time.

This is interesting, I assume they were on Dothan's P25 System before? It doesn't make any since to change since the Dothan P25 system will eventually become a branch of the Statewide AIRS System

Did they have walkie to walkie range for their entire service area? This may have been a cheaper option.

They changed because the Dothan system did not have coverage in some parts of the county. It was less expensive than adding coverage and buying Motorola equipment. They have TRI band radios on the Dothan system, their new system, and the state vhf system.
